Cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM) is a linear polymer compound with abundant active particles that can easily form hydrogen bonds with other substances. It is a water-soluble polymer that is insoluble in most organic solvents, but easily soluble in water and not corrosive. Cationic polyacrylamide is stable at room temperature, but it is prone to decomposition and deterioration under high temperature or freezing conditions. Therefore, the temperature during storage, preparation, and addition should be controlled between 2 ℃ and 65 ℃.
Physical and chemical properties
Cationic polyacrylamide has good water solubility and can be completely dissolved even in cold water. Its molecular weight is relatively high, usually between 10 ^ 3 and 10 ^ 7. Cationic polyacrylamide exhibits cationic properties in compatible or alkaline media and is suitable for treating negatively charged suspensions and wastewaters.
application area
Water treatment: Cationic polyacrylamide is widely used as a flocculant in water treatment, especially in industrial water supply and wastewater treatment, with significant effects. Its flocculation efficiency is several to tens of times higher than traditional inorganic coagulants such as alum, aluminum salts, iron salts, etc., and its cost is lower.
Sludge dewatering: During the sludge dewatering process, cationic polyacrylamide can effectively reduce the moisture content of sludge and improve dewatering efficiency. Its flocs are large and non stick to the filter cloth, and do not disperse during pressure filtration. The moisture content of the mud cake can be reduced to below 80%.
Petroleum industry: In oil extraction and drilling mud treatment, cationic polyacrylamide can effectively prevent water breakthrough, reduce frictional resistance, improve oil recovery, and play a key role in tertiary oil recovery.
Paper industry: In the papermaking process, cationic polyacrylamide is used as a reinforcing agent to increase the retention rate of fillers and pigments, enhance the dry wet strength and tear resistance of paper.
Textile industry: In textile sizing agents, cationic polyacrylamide provides stable sizing performance, reduces pulp drop phenomenon, and lowers fabric breakage rate
